Mabuza once told me that when travelling on any road and there is a fear of being struck from behind by an ill wind, get off the road.
The Time Warp
...and here are a few ramblings to keep you
going over the weekend about Time, cogs, wheels and the stolen hour.
(The Time Warp by Little Nell, Richard
O'Brien, Patricia Quinn)
It's astounding, time is fleeting
Madness takes its toll
but listen closely, not for very much longer
I've got to keep control
I remember doing the Time Warp
Drinking those moments when
the blackness would hit me and the void would be calling
Let’s do the time warp again...
Let's do the time warp again!

...so what in the Hell you are asking, has
The Rocky Horror Show got to do with The Bone Traders, alias +Talking With Dog ?
Time is the answer. “Drinking those
moments when ...The blackness would hit me and the void would be calling...” I
came upon these lyrics whilst stumbling through the maze of the internet
searching for ‘A space in time, gap in time’, or similar. Why, you dare ask?
Well, the final challenge our hero in Bone
Traders has to survive, is to re-live a moment of history that is left recorded in
the cogs and pinions of a fob watch that was treasured by his father. He has to
re-live dead time, he has to jump the wall between the ‘then’ and the ‘now’.
(To really get to grips with this, you’d have to read the book or wait a long
time to see the movie!) He uses his pure energy to fuel and reincarnate Time.
In my simple way, I imagined it as a Time warp.
The Ramble:
Which got me to thinking (that does happen occasionally) about retardation and forwarding of Time. (Now I'm certain you astute readers of this Blog already have the answers, but here’s my thinking, or the lack of)...
In a few days, we will advance our clocks
by one hour. This, I presume, is so we can all prepare ourselves for the
promised three days of sun we seriously call summer here in England...either
way, we advance Time by one hour. We mechanically advance Time, yes? (As in The
Bone Traders in case I didn't mention that!) Now, does that mean we have all
aged by one hour? Does that mean we did not ‘live’ in that one hour? Is this
then, Lost Time? Is this then, A Gap In Time? Where did that one hour go?
Surely it had been, or will be, of consequence to our lives? Okay, so we
re-claim this one hour before winter, but that’s not the same hour, or is it?
The same hour the cogs and pinions of our timepieces ground away at and
recorded? You can chuckle over my naivety here, but me thinks this is some food
for thought...and remember:
It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hips
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust that really drives
you insane,
Let's do the Time Warp again!
As Benjamin Franklin wisely said: “Lost Time is never found again...”
Have a warm weekend.
